Good Morning in your neck of the woods. It's Mama tryin' to "keep it fresh" for you hundreds of readers...
I was thinking about food, as usual, and it struck me that it's been years (and I am half a century old plus one year) since I've been able to purchase the following products. If you folks can still purchase these things in your grocery or Five and Dime stores (there's one right there...) send Mama a comment so I know that the goods are still out there. Here, then, is my premiere list of lost food memories.
1. FIZZIES (Drop a Fizzies in a glass, watch the magic come to pass!)
2. CHERRY CHIPS (Mom made cherry chip cookies.)
3. SPLIT PEA SOUP (Lipton's dehydrated version. It was great with grilled cheese sandwiches.)
4. GREEN GODDESS DRESSING (People probably found out it contained anchovies!).
5. RATH (little sausages in a can. The best tasting sausages ever.)
6. WHOLE COOKED CHICKEN IN A CAN.
7. BUBBLEGUM CIGARETTES (in a fake cigarette package. Fake cigarettes for kids? No loss.)
8. LAURA SCUDDER'S BRAND (potato chips and corn chips).
9. DEHYDRATED YAM FLAKES (like mashed potato flakes. These were SUPERB!)
10.TEAM FLAKES (breakfast cereal. Yeah, they got soggy, but you could still see 4 kinds of grains!)
Mama
--Bazooka bubble gum, it's still my favorite although it's hard to find.
--Tang orange juice crystals, a revolutionary invention thanks to the space program.
